Relevant activities include staff training, instruction of employees with a range of learning abilities and familiarity with subject material, organization and presentation of wine seminars, customer and employee relations, and maintenance of restaurant operations. Position has required ongoing development of skills and organizational ability in a high-paced work environment. Substitute Teacher (January 2001 – June 2001) Wilson Magnet High School, City School District, Rochester, New York.
Taught
predominantly science courses. Led discussions, conducted labs and
taught lectures on chemistry, physics, earth science and biology. Aided
students in understanding problem sets, concepts presented during the

Research/Honors Thesis
(May
1999 – May 2000), Professor
Cole Gilbert, Dept. of Entomology, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Conducted
an independent study involving field and laboratory work, as well as
analysis and interpretation of results. Included development of a novel
apparatus and an associated methodology. Project success required
self-discipline, independent, innovative thinking, and a familiarity
with scientific protocol and relevant literature. Research
Assistant (October
1998 – June 1999) and Field Assistant (July
1999, January 2000), Professor Alison Power, Dept. of Ecology, Cornell
University, Ithaca, New York. Intensive
field collection of invertebrate population samples from El Parque
Nacional de los Haitises, Dominican Republic and subsequent laboratory
analysis. Laboratory work included personal identification and study of
ant populations as an indication of rainforest health and succession
stage. The project involved relating to local, Spanish speaking
authorities as well as working closely with a three-person team, and
demanded mental and physical perseverance, attention to detail, and a
healthy work ethic. Pharmacy
Technician
(Fall 1995 – Winter 1998), St. Mary’s and Park Ridge Hospitals,
Rochester, New York. Stocked medications in pharmacy, emergency department, intensive care and surgical units, and other hospital wings. Input prescriptions and pricing data. Delivered patient medications to hospital wards. Trained new employees and worked with customers. Assisted in development of a program to minimize unnecessary overuse of antibiotics. Required personal relations skills, focus on detailed tasks, and accountability.
